
Bruins End Regular Season with Victory over No. 10 Long Beach State

Long Beach, Calif. - The second-ranked UCLA women's water polo team defeated the tenth-ranked Long Beach State Gauchos, 11-4 at LBSU. The Bruins move their record to 24-3, 11-1 in the MPSF conference. Long Beach State falls to 15-12, 4-8 in MPSF play.
Kelly Rulon scored three goals in the first quarter to help the Bruins take an early 5-1 lead. The Beach twice closed to within three in the second period, on a Christina Wensman shot from about five meters out at 4:00, to make it 5-2, and then after Wensman passed to Johnson for a score at 2:23 to make it 6-3 at the half.
UCLA put the 49ers away with three-straight scores in the third period to lead 9-3, on back-to-back goals from Kristina Kunkel at 1:19 and with 20 seconds left. Kunkel finished with three goals. In the fourth quarter, the Bruins added two more goals, eventually winning 11-4.
UCLA's next game will be in the MPSF Championships beginning on April 27 at UC Irvine. The Bruins' opponent will be announced after the season comes to a close.
