UCLA student-athletes have won 108 Academic All-America honors in the 55-year history of the award which is 8th on the all-time list for most honorees. The all-time Top 30 ranking has Nebraska at #1

UCLA student-athletes have won 108 Academic All-America honors in the 55-year history of the award which is 8th on the all-time list for most honorees. The all-time Top 30 ranking has Nebraska at #1 (252 honorees) followed by Notre Dame, Penn State, MIT, Augustana College, Stanford, and Bucknell. Arizona is the only other Pac-10 school in the Top 30. The Wildcats are tied with Northwestern and BYU for 26th.

Football Pre-Season Ranking
The Bruins were picked to finish third in the Pac-10 at Pac-10 Media Day was last week. USC was the unanimous first-place selection. Here are the rankings and voting results:

Men's Basketball Recruiting Class
The men's basketball class for next year is solid with All-Everything Kevin Love and the LA Player of the Year, Chace Stanback. The 2008 class is already being heralded as one of the top in the nation as well. UCLA has verbal commitments from the following top-flight players (their national ranking on Rivals.com is in parentheses) Jerime Anderson (#51), Drew Gordon (#30), Malcolm Lee (#57) and Jrue Holiday (#2). Anderson, Lee and Holiday are all guards. Gordon is a power forward.
