The members of UCLA's 1967 men's basketball national championship team celebrated the 40th anniversary of that accomplishment on campus last Saturday. The 1967 team, led by sophomore Lew Alcindor, began an unprecedented run of 7 straight national titles. Check out the video of the halftime ceremony at uclabruins.com. This celebration also means that UCLA will have an unprecedented run of 7 straight 40th anniversary events. Perhaps an interesting and unusual piece of inventory for the right sponsor?
Last Saturday the men's basketball team also finished the regular-season with a perfect 18-0 record. The last time UCLA was perfect at home was 1974-75 when a young man named John Wooden was coaching his final season in Westwood. The Bruins won their 10th national title under Coach Wooden that year.
The 6th-ranked UCLA gymnastics team has a big meet against #2 Georgia at Pauley Pavilion this Sunday at 2:00. A great family-friendly event for those of you who want to see future Olympians.
As always, thank you for your support of UCLA Athletics. Your support makes the difference!
