Boldizsar Kocsor placed seventh in the hammer competition at the Texas Relays in Austin on Thursday to lead the Bruin men. The sophomore and reigning Pac-10 champion in that event posted a mark of 203-11. The mark was a regional qualifier, but he has a better throw this season of 211-5.
Teammate Andrew Ninow, who was competing in a UCLA uniform for the first time this season, picked up a regional qualifier in the hammer with his toss of 197-10 to finish ninth overall.
Competition continues on Friday in Austin with Stan Griffin in the 100m, Joel Tuosto in the long jump, Darius Savage, John Caulfield, Greg Garza and Jason Rider in the discus, Chris Burbach in the javelin, Laef Barnes and Mike Haddan in the 1500m and Henry Hagenbuch in the steeplechase.
