
No. 4 UCLA Defeats Cal Baptist, 86-58, in Exhibition Game

LOS ANGELES - Senior Josh Shipp scored a game-high 20 points and junior Nikola Dragovic added 13 points to lead the No. 4 UCLA men's basketball team past Cal Baptist, 86-58, in an exhibition game Monday night before 6,832 fans in Pauley Pavilion.
Freshman Jrue Holiday registered 12 points, seven rebounds and game-highs of seven assists and six steals in his first action as a Bruin. Holiday was one of five UCLA freshmen to play and score in the exhibition game.
Shipp finished the contest shooting 7-of-8 from the field, including 3-of-4 from three-point range. Dragovic nailed 4-of-6 six-three point attempts in 15 minutes of action.
UCLA never trailed against the visiting Lancers, using an early 10-0 run to assume a 17-6 lead with 12:54 remaining in the first half. Cal Baptist reduced the Bruins' margin to nine points, 22-13, before UCLA went on a 19-4 run in the final 8:33 of the first half to lead 41-17 at halftime.
The Bruins led by as many as 33 points, assuming a 72-39 lead with 6:28 to play in the second half.
Senior Mark Roussin led Cal Baptist with 18 points, and classmate Omar Krayem finished with 16 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
UCLA returns to action against Biola on Friday, Nov. 7 in its final preseason exhibition contest. Game time is 7:30 p.m. in Pauley Pavilion.
