Curry & Bruin Freshmen Show Future Is Great For Women's Track & Field

Junior Krishna Curry and a bevy of freshmen athletes showed the future is great for the women's track and field program as UCLA had six event winners, including a sweep in the 60m, at the Bronco Invitational in Nampa, ID on Saturday.
Curry notched a win in the 800m as she was just .66 seconds shy of an NCAA provisional mark, running 2:09.66. That mark bettered her season-best of 2:11.21. Teammate Rosa Magana ran a lifetime-best 2:12.96 to finish second overall.
The freshmen trio of RoNecia Nash, Yasmin Woodruff and Nijah Nelms posted a sweep in the 60m with Nash winning in 7.61, followed by Woodruff (7.65) and Nelms (7.86).
Woodruff tallied a win in the 200m in a time of 24.98, while Nelms was fourth (25.39).
In the 400m, frosh Camilla Dencer won in a time of 55.61, while sophomore Ashlea McLaughlin was second (55.64). The Bruins had four runners finish in the top-10 in the 400m.
Freshman Ryann Krais was second in the 60m hurdles (8.66). Sophomore Lindsay Rowe was third (8.68) and Nash was fourth (8.76). The 4x400m team of McLaughlin, Joy Eaton, Curry and Dencer won in a time of 3:43.02.
In the shot put, freshman Brittany Borman won with a toss of 45-3.
The Bruins will continue the indoor season next weekend when they head to New York for the New Balance Collegiate Invitational.
