The sixth-ranked UCLA men's volleyball team took its traveling show from Romeoville, IL to Chicago Saturday and carved out a victory against Loyola University.

The Bruins won 30-22, 26-30, 30-27, 25-30, 20-18 in two hours and 35 minutes in front of 2,211 fans at Gentile Arena. The victory raised the Bruins' record to 7-6. The Ramblers fell to 5-2.

Improving from Friday's five-game loss at Lewis, the Bruins hit better in Game 5, attacking at a 40% rate. They also fared better from the service line, acing the Ramblers five times against 18 errors.

Freshman Nick Vogel pounded a career-high 21 kills (.690) from the middle hitter's spot, and sophomore Teddy Goetz started at outside hitter in the spot vacated by junior Garrett Muagututia, who suffered an ankle sprain the previous night. Senior Sean O'Malley added 15 kills, an ace and two block assists for 17 points, followed by 14 kills (.385) from freshman Jack Polales. Also in double-digits were freshmen Kyle Caldwell with 12 kills (.435) and Thomas Amberg with 11 (.333) kills, three aces and six total blocks.

Mike Bunting led Loyola with 25 kills and George Kamberous added 17 (.591).

The Bruins will travel to Pepperdine on Wed., Feb. 18 before winding up their road swing at USC on Feb. 20.
