The Bruin long jumping duo of Rhonda Watkins and Danielle Watson had a big day in New York at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational as both women qualified for the NCAA Championships with Watkins winning the event.

Watkins, the 2007 NCAA Indoor and Outdoor champion in the long jump, opened up the meet with a mark of 21-3.25 (6.48m). That mark is an NCAA automatic qualifier and No. 2 in the NCAA this season. It was also just one centimeter shy of the meet record.
