
Road Skid Ends; Bruins Beat Gauchos in Four

SANTA BARBARA - The troubles on the road for the UCLA men's volleyball team ended for the short term on Friday night, as the Bruins won at Santa Barbara in four games.
UCLA beat UCSB, 25-30, 30-27, 30-26, 30-27 in 111 minutes before 357 fans at Rob Gym. The Bruins improved to 9-12 overall, 5-9 in MPSF play. The Gauchos fell to 6-13, 3-12. The Bruins ended a road losing streak of four matches.
The Bruins dominated the team statistics, hitting .342 to the Gauchos' .161. The visitors out-blocked the hosts, 12.5-10.0. Both teams served four aces.
Freshman Jack Polales led UCLA with 17 kills (.306), and freshman Thomas Amberg and senior Sean O'Malley added 12 apiece. Junior Garrett Muagututia contributed 10 kills.
The Gauchos' Jeff Menzel led both teams with 26 kills.
The Bruins will break for two weeks before resuming league play on the road at BYU on Mar. 27 and 28. They will return home for a four-game home stand beginning with Hawaii on Apr. 2 and 3.
