Box Score

San Diego, Calif. - The seventh-ranked UCLA women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with No. 15 San Diego on Friday evening at Torero Stadium. Senior Kristina Larsen scored the Bruins' lone goal in the 29th minute.

San Diego was able to get on the scoreboard first, as in the 26th minute of action, the UCLA defense was called for a foul on Stephanie Ochs inside the box, which set up a penalty kick situation. Senior midfielder Christine Mock took the penalty kick for the Toreros and put it into the back of the net past a diving Bruin goalkeeper to give USD a 1-0 lead.

Just three minutes later, the Bruins tied things up, as Kara Lang crossed the ball in front of the USD goal box, where Larson was there to hit a one-timer into the goal to cap the scoring for the day.

After the break, both teams had several scoring opportunities. One of USD's best opportunities came in the 55th minute of action, as freshman forward Lexi Deol spun around a defender and broke past the entire UCLA backline to have a one-on-one situation with Bruin goalkeeper Chante' Sandiford, who made a great save to preserve the 1-1 tie.

UCLA outshot USD 26-10 and held a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Next up for the Bruins is a match at Long Beach State on Sunday at 5:00 p.m.
