SESSION I PRESS CONFERENCE
UCLA Head Coach Valorie Kondos Field
On advancing to the Super Six:
"If you would have told me the result about 45 minutes ago, I would have felt a lot better and been able
to relax and enjoy it a bit more. In hindsight now, I'm kind of glad we struggled a bit on the first two
events, because it's nice to be able to get that out of our system and move on. It's been quite a while
since UCLA has been in the Super Six and it feels good to be back. It feels great to be here with a team
that I totally believe in."
UCLA gymnast Anna Li
On advancing to the Super Six:
"The last time we did this was my freshman year and I was so excited, I went up to Brittani
McCollough, who came in the same year as I did. I'm so proud of my team. I've never been on team
that is so much fun. The atmosphere was so exciting, and I am so eager for tomorrow night."
LSU gymnast Susan Jackson
On leading the all-around as an Individual:
"It was my last meet as a senior with my team and it's definitely a bitter sweet feeling, surreal in a way,
but I'm excited about the day. We were going strong and then I do not know what happened on the
beam. I'm proud of my teammates for overcoming adversities and there were some great things
tonight."
Oklahoma Head Coach K.J. Kindler
On advancing to the Super Six:
"Out of the gate, I was nervous all day up until the very last routine. I have a lot of faith in my team, but
my feelings overcame me. I tried to stay calm and show the confidence I have in them. We started off
rough on the vault, not doing our best. I felt like we left a lot of gymnastics out on the floor and I think
we can do a much better job tomorrow night. We can be more precise in what we're doing. I think in
some instances, we tried too hard, but it is very important for this team to make the Super Six. It was a
big dream and now it is reality. We are very excited for tomorrow night."
Oklahoma gymnast Hollie Vise
On Advancing to the Super Six:
"This is my senior year and the first time my team is advancing. I am really excited. We have worked
really hard all year and now it is paying off. We are really excited for the opportunity to compete
tomorrow night. I am really proud of my teammates. We stuck together tonight and there is room for
us to make improvements tomorrow night."
Utah Co-Head Coach Megan Marsden
On advancing to the Super Six:
"I was extremely proud of my team and I know for this group of girls, its been a long time coming this
season with us starting to really peak and I think they took the heart and the tradition of the program
really heavy on their shoulders and I think its been a lot of fun for them and in the time that it counts
most they are seeming to come together and rise to the occasion. I know for coaches its fun to see that
happen. We're thrilled to be here another night, to live another day, and looking forward to be here on
the night that they determine the champion. That's usually the goal of the program, to be there the
night they determine the champion, so this group has accomplished this goal once again."
On the Utah fans traveling to Gainesville:
"We do enjoy having our fans with us, they usually come in large numbers. All the way from Salt Lake to
Gainesville is a tough trip, but still we had a good group and many of them are family up there today
and a few of our hardcore fans and they always make it special. Daria is right, it made it feel a little bit
like we were home today"
Utah gymnast Daria Bijak
On advancing to the Super Six:
"I think we were really happy because everyone had already counted us out already and we came here
with the attitude that we didn't' have anything to lose. I think we were all kind of nervous at first ending
on the bye, which is really hard, but we will have another chance tomorrow."
On the Utah fans traveling to Gainesville:
"Having them here makes it easy for us. They are really loud and they do that at every meet, so I think it
was cool to have our crowd there and everything else. It kind of made it feel like a home meet."
