Casey DiCesare, Mark Weber and Greg Woepse highlighted the men's track and field team on day two of the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner Kersee Invitational as all three posted event wins on Friday.
DiCesare, who is a 17-5 pole vaulter for the Bruins and competing on Saturday in the invite section of the vault, tried his hand at the long jump and was victorious. He posted a mark of 22-11.75 to win by over seven inches. Weber won the discus with a season-best throw of 162-9. Woepse won the pole vault with a clearance of 16-1.25.
Also in the vault, Scott DiCesare cleared a lifetime-best 16-1.25 to finish second to Woepse.
In the javelin, Carlo Valdes threw a season-best 189-11 to finish seventh overall. Brandon Smith finally made his 2010 debut for the Bruins after struggling with a hamstring injury sustained at last year's West Regional Championship and finished third in the 100m with a time of 10.74.
David Klarer ran a lifetime-best in the 400m hurdles to finish fifth overall in the event (54.37). Quentin Powell was fourth in the 200m with a time of 21.79.
During the evening distance carnival, Dylan Knight placed second in the steeplechase with a time of 8:55.44. David McDonald improved upon his personal-best in the event with an eighth-place run of 9:30.92.
In the 1500m, Alec Govi ran a lifetime-best of 3:55.59 to finish 10th overall. Kent Morikawa was fourth in the 5000m with a time of 14:38.86, while Spencer Knight ran a personal-best 14:44.03 to finish sixth overall.
Competition concludes on Saturday with the invitational portion of the meet.
