The UCLA men's volleyball team fell in three games to Cal Baptist on Friday and finished fourth in the 46th Annual Santa Barbara Invitational.
Cal Baptist won 35-33, 31-29, 30-19 and captured third place. The Bruins' overall record fell to 1-2 entering Wednesday's league opener against USC at Pauley Pavilion.
The Bruins had their chances, but were unable to finish on a winning note in the first two games. In Game 1 with the score tied at 33-33, sophomore opposite Jack Polales committed a service error and junior outside hitter Dylan Bowermaster committed a hitting error to give the Lancers the victory.
In Game 2, the Bruins battled back from an early six-point hole and a late 27-29 deficit to tie the score at 29-29. But CBU got a kill and a block to go up 2-0 in games.
Senior Garrett Muagututia led the Bruins with 14 kills.
