Eugene, Ore. - A pair of late goals from Sydney Leroux and Zakiya Bywaters helped the No. 14 UCLA women's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over Oregon on Friday evening at Pape' Field in Eugene.
Leroux gave the Bruins a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute, however the Ducks answered back with a goal of their own at the 67:36 mark.
Just when it looked like the match might head into overtime, Leroux notched her second goal of the game, and her ninth of the year, on a left-footed shot from about 18 yards out in the 88th minute. Bywaters then put the game out of reach a little more than a minute later, chipping a shot over Oregon goalkeeper Lindsay Parlee at the 89:35 mark to give the Bruins a 3-1 advantage.
UCLA outshot Oregon, 15-8 on the evening. Bruin goalkeeper Chante' Sandiford finished with four saves.
With the win, the Bruins improve to 9-4-1 overall and 2-1 in the Pac-10. Oregon falls to 4-7-2 and 0-2 in conference action.
UCLA returns to action on Sunday, traveling to Corvallis, Ore. for a 1:00 p.m. showdown with Oregon State.
