Zamarripa, Larson Named To U.S. National Team

UCLA junior Vanessa Zamarripa and future Bruin Mattie Larson were selected to the U.S. National Team after earning Top 8 finishes at the 2010 Visa Championships Saturday evening. Larson finished in second place in the all-around with a two-day total of 117.00, while Zamarripa was eighth with a final score of 111.400.
Larson captured her first U.S. national title by winning the floor exercise (30.35). She also placed third on uneven bars (29.0) and tied for seventh on balance beam (27.55). Zamarripa placed second on vault (28.675), seventh on bars (28.2) and 10th on floor (27.45).
Zamarripa made the national team at her first USA Championships and completed the rare feat of making the U.S. team the same year she competed in college. Zamarripa had an outstanding collegiate season in 2010, winning the NCAA vault and team titles, as well as the Pac-10 all-around, vault and team crowns.
