LOS ANGELES - In the recently completed 2010 Fall Quarter, a total of 329 UCLA student-athletes earned a spot on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll. It marks a significant improvement from the same time last year, where 233 Bruins were named to the Director's Honor Roll. To make the Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a grade-point average of at least 3.0 and pass at least 12 quarter units.
Of the 329 student-athletes who earned a spot on the Director's Honor Roll, 124 compiled a grade-point average of at least 3.5 (up from 78 last year) and 15 earned a perfect 4.0 (up from 12 last year).
"The success of our student-athletes is very important to everyone associated with the UCLA Athletic Department," said Dr. Christina Rivera, Assistant Athletic Director - Academic and Student Services. "We are extremely proud of their accomplishments in the classroom - it is a tribute to their hard work and competitive nature. We also want to thank our coaches, academic support staff, faculty and University administration for their support of our academic endeavors."
Women's rowing led all teams with 37 members on the Director's Honor Roll, followed by football and men's cross-country/track & field, which both had 29 members. Women's cross-country and track & field had 27 members, followed by both men's soccer and swimming & diving with 22 apiece.
