Dear Bruin Fans,

I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you who attended our first home game of the 2011 season last Saturday at the Rose Bowl, as well as those of you planning to come out for our remaining games, including this week against Texas.

As many of you are aware, the City of Pasadena in partnership with UCLA and the Tournament of Roses, has begun an extensive three-year renovation of the Rose Bowl. Your support and understanding during the construction phase is greatly appreciated. When completed, the greatest stadium in America will be enhanced for generations to come.

Despite the challenges, there were certain parts of the fan experience that can and will be improved upon. These issues, many of which were derived directly from your feedback, have been discussed with the leadership of the Rose Bowl with the expectation that UCLA fans have the most enjoyable experience possible. Specifically, the debut of the new video board on the north end zone was exciting and showed quality live action and replays. However, the south end zone scoreboard did not meet my or your expectations. Therefore, the Rose Bowl and UCLA will implement temporary solutions to ensure that fans, regardless of their seating location, will be able to view the game clock and score throughout the contest. In addition, for the long term, the Rose Bowl has committed to reviewing the south scoreboard design and will develop solutions that match the overall quality of the renovation.

There are a great many traditions in collegiate athletics, but none match the feeling of playing at the Rose Bowl in front of our True Blue fans. The 2011 football team continues to push themselves to be better, and our Bruins need you there Saturday cheering them on. Once again, I want to thank all of you who provided constructive feedback about your experiences last Saturday night at the game, and please know that we are working hard to address the issues at hand.
