UCLA Athletic Director Dan Guerrero will be inducted into the San Pedro Sportswalk to the Waterfront on Monday, Oct. 10 at 10 am in San Pedro's historic downtown district. The annual ceremony will honor six athletic inductees with the installation of bronze plaques into the sidewalk of downtown San Pedro on Sixth Street between Palos Verdes and Centre Street.

Immediately following at the same location is a noon luncheon at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Ticket reservations are $55 and can be made by calling the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce at (310) 832-7272.

The Director of Athletics at UCLA since 2002 and a Bruin baseball player in the early 1970s, Guerrero is also the current president of the Division I Athletic Directors Association. In his nine years as athletic director, UCLA teams have won 21 NCAA team titles (the highest total in the nation in that span) in 11 different sports, finished second 17 times and have had an additional 32 Top Five finishes (70 total). UCLA stands as the No. 1 University in the nation for NCAA team championships (107) won, a number that continues to grow under his direction. A staggering 172 teams (of 207 possible) have qualified for NCAA post-season competition, and the football team has appeared in seven bowl games.

Other inductees include: former Cerritos Community College basketball coach and celebrated local high school basketball player Jack Bogdanovich, USC Athletic Director Pat Haden, lifeguard John Matesich, former minor league pitcher George Lusic, and Olympic water polo player Maureen O'Toole.
