Charlottesville, Va. - The No. 7 UCLA women's tennis team concluded play at the 2011 USTA/ITA National Team Indoor Championships on Sunday, suffering a 4-2 loss to Baylor in a consolation match at the Boar's Head Sports Club.
UCLA (7-4) actually owned a 2-0 lead in Sunday's contest after claiming the doubles point and then getting a quick win in singles from Maya Johansson at court No. 6. The Bears, however, battled back to eventually take four-straight singles victories.
Trailing 3-2, UCLA needed wins by both Noelle Hickey (court No. 2) and Andrea Remynse (court No. 3) to pull off the upset. However, Baylor's Diana Nakic ended the suspense at the No. 2 spot, posting a 3-6, 6-4, 7-5(5) victory over Hickey to clinch the win for the Bears. Remynse was trailing 4-1 in the third set against Nadina Secerbegovic when play was suspended.
Next up for UCLA is a road match against Pepperdine on Feb. 25 at 1:30 p.m.
