
Men's Volleyball Falls to BYU 3-1

Freshman Gonzalo Quiroga served a school record five aces in one set, but it wasn't enough as the 5th ranked UCLA men's volleyball were defeated by the BYU Cougars 3-1.
The Bruins dropped to 7-4 on the year and are now 2-3 in MPSF play. BYU improved to 5-2 in conference play and 8-2 overall. Game scores were 25-17, 14-25, 25-23, 25-21.
Freshman Robart Page led the Bruins with 13 kills and 4 block assists in a losing effort. Junior Weston Dunlap and Quiroga followed that with up with 12 kills apiece while Dunlap led the team with 6 block assists. Setter Alex Scattareggia recorded 42 assists and libero Tom Hastings had 9 digs in the loss as well.
Overall, the Bruins hit .295 as a team while the Cougars hit .260. UCLA also committed 17 service errors in the match as compared to just 9 for BYU. Robb Stowell led the Cougars with 20 kills.
The two teams will complete the two-game series tomorrow, February 5th at Smith Fieldhouse in Provo, UT. Gametime is slated for 7:00 p.m. MT/6:00 p.m. PT.
