STANFORD, Calif. - Senior Priscilla Orozco led the No. 4 UCLA women's water polo team with three goals in a 7-6 victory over No. 5 Hawai'i at the Stanford Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Junior KK Clark also added two goals as the Bruins improved to 6-0.
UCLA continues play in the Stanford Invitational on Saturday evening against USC. Game time at Stanford's Avery Stadium is 6:30 p.m.
The Bruins also received one goal from senior Grace Reynolds and sophomore Brooke Martin.
Hawai'i was led by three goal apiece from Monika Eggens and Amarens Genee. Trailing 7-4 in the final period, Genee added two fourth-quarter goals with three minutes remaining. UCLA clamped down on defense and held Hawai'i scoreless the rest of the way.
UCLA led 2-0 after the first period and pushed its margin to 6-2 by halftime. Hawai'i reduced its deficit to 7-4 after three quarters.
Junior goalkeeper Caitlin Dement finished with six saves for UCLA. Hawai'i goalkeeper Serena Bredin logged eight saves in the cage for the Rainbow Wahine.
