
Bruins' Winning Streak Continues as UCLA Defeats Ramblers 3-2

In yet another match that went five sets, the 8th ranked UCLA men's volleyball overcame a 2-1 deficit and defeated the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers 3-2 at Pauley Pavilion.
The Bruins improved to 13-9 on the year and increased their winning streak to five matches. This was also the Bruins' third straight five-set match in the last week, with UCLA winning all three. Game scores were 24-26, 25-18, 24-26, 25-20 and 15-8.
Freshman Gonzalo Quiroga and junior Weston Dunlap led the Bruins with 18 and 16 kills respectively. Quiroga chipped in 1.5 total blocks while Dunlap had a team-high 3.0 total blocks, good for a total of 20.5 and 20.0 points respectively. Junior Kyle Caldwell had another solid performance as well, hammering 10 kills and recording 2.5 total blocks, good for 12.5 points on the night. Junior setter Alex Scattareggia had a game-high 56 assists while senior Tom Hastings led the Bruins with 7 digs in the victory.
Overall, the Bruins hit .379 as a team while holding the Ramblers to .336. Mike Bunting led Loyola-Chicago with 24 kills.
UCLA's next match will be Thursday, March 24th, against the UC Irvine Anteaters at 7:00 p.m PT in Pauley Pavilion. This will be UCLA's last match in the old Pauley Pavilion and fans are invited to take a photo on Nell and John Wooden Court after the game.
