UCLA and Pauley Pavilion will serve as host of the 2013 NCAA Championships in women's gymnastics and men's volleyball. The women's gymnastics championships will take place April 19-21, 2013, while the men's volleyball championships will be held May 2 & 4, 2013.
Pauley Pavilion will have a new look by 2013, as it is currently under renovation. It will be reopened for intercollegiate athletic competition in Fall 2012.
This will be UCLA's fourth time hosting the NCAA gymnastics championships. The Bruins won the national title the last time they hosted in 2004, scoring an NCAA record 198.125. UCLA also previously hosted in 1998 and 1984.
"We're excited to bring the Women's National Gymnastics Championship back to Southern California," said UCLA gymnastics head coach Valorie Kondos Field. "It will be the first National Championship to be held in the newly renovated Pauley Pavilion, and I know our team will be proud to showcase our new competitive home."
UCLA has hosted 13 prior NCAA Men's Volleyball Championships, most recently in 2005. The Bruins have won the NCAA title in nine of those 13 years they have hosted.
"It is gratifying that the Championships are returning to the original site of NCAA Volleyball," said UCLA men's volleyball head coach Al Scates. "We have won nine of our 19 NCAA titles on our home court, and we are looking forward to hosting again."
The UCLA women's gymnastics and men's volleyball programs have combined to win 25 NCAA titles (six in women's gymnastics and 19 in men's volleyball).
