Freshman Samantha Peszek (Indianapolis, IN/Cathedral HS) of the UCLA gymnastics team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Apr. 11-17.
Peszek became the sixth UCLA gymnast to win the NCAA balance beam title, scoring a career-high 9.9 to take first place at the Championships. Peszek added a standing full to her beam routine at the event finals and is believed to be the first gymnast ever to compete that skill in collegiate competition. She also helped lead UCLA to a close second-place team finish at the NCAA Championships, contributing a career-high 9.9 on vault, plus 9.875 on bars and 9.8 on beam in the team finals. She earned first-team All-America honors on beam and second-team on vault.
This is Peszek's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of her career.
