Men's Cross Country Have Impressive Showing At Notre Dame Invitational

The men's cross country team put together an impressive performance on Friday as they placed sixth at the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, IN. The Bruins, who received votes in the latest USTFCCCA national poll, finished ahead of four teams that were ranked in the top 30. Seniors Dylan Knight and Kent Morikawa led the way as only eight seconds separated UCLA's No. 1 runner from the No. 4 runner.
Knight was the top finisher for the men's team as he placed 26th with a time of 24:45. Morikawa finished just three seconds behind him with a time of 24:48 (35th-place). Sophomores Dustin Fay and Nohe Lema were the No. 3 and No. 4 finishers for UCLA as Fay placed 43rd (24:52) and Lema was 44th (24:53). Junior Zack Torres rounded out the Bruins' top five with a 60th-place finish in a time of 25:03. Freshman Chase Zukerman tallied the same time as Torres, 25:03, and placed 61st overall.
BYU won the team crown (46 pts.), while Florida State was second (110 pts.) and Princeton was third (138 pts.). The Bruins missed fourth-place by just nine points, finishing sixth with 211 points.
On the women's side, junior Katja Goldring again led the Bruins as she was the top finisher in 77th-place (18:01). Teammate Sarah Toberty was the No. 2 runner, placing 108th in a time of 18:17. Freshmen Kelsey Smith (140th, 18:35), Bronte Golick (161st, 18:46) and Annie Mooney (168th, 18:49) rounded out the top five runners for UCLA.
Florida State won the women's crown with 54 points, followed by Arkansas (116 pts.) and New Mexico (164 pts.). The Bruin women finished 23rd with 625 points.
