The NCAA released today the Academic Progress Rates (APR) for all sports teams at Division I colleges and universities. The latest averages cover the four-year period from 2007-08 through 2010-11.

All 24 UCLA sports had four-year APR averages above the 925 score the NCAA uses as a threshold for penalties. In fact, 15 of UCLA's 24 sports (75%) had four-year averages of 970 or higher. Twenty-two sports had scores of at least 950 with a 23rd at 942. Women's golf scored a perfect 1,000 while women's water polo scored 991.

"Each of UCLA's nearly 700 student-athletes works diligently to be equally successful on and off the field of play," said UCLA athletic director Dan Guerrero. "The data released today by the NCAA is a testament to the work ethic of the student-athletes at UCLA, as well as to the tireless efforts of our superb academic support staff and coaches, who ensure that our student-athletes receive the best resources and opportunities available to them."

Six programs (men's golf, women's golf, women's gymnastics, women's rowing, men's water polo and women's water polo) had a single-year (2010-11) APR of 1,000, while 14 came in at 975 and higher.

A multi-year APR score of 925 is the minimum level of academic success; teams scoring below 925 can lose scholarships and face other sanctions over time, including bans on postseason play.

Since the inception of the APR system, UCLA has never suffered a loss of scholarship in any sport due to a low APR average.
