
Freshman Jonathan Garrick Wins Cal Poly Invitational

UCLA freshman Jonathan Garrick won the Cal Poly Firestone Grill Invitational Tuesday at Monarch Dunes Golf Course in Nipomo, CA.
Garrick fired three consecutive rounds of 67 (-3) for a nine-under par total of 201. He won his first collegiate title in his first start by four shots over teammate Jake Knapp, who finished second at 205 (-5). Knapp posted scores of 65-74-66. Sophomore Preston Valder also finished in the Top 5, tying for fifth place at 212 (+2) after recording scores of 65-69-78. Freshmen Aaron Kunitomo tied for 35th at 225 (+15) and Reilly McMahon placed 52nd at 233 (+23). Kunitomo posted scores of 75-78-72 and McMahon carded rounds of 83-78-72.
Host Cal Poly SLO won the team title.
