Current sophomore Emma Ivory-Ganja and 2011 alumna Laura Winn concluded their competition at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Diving Trials Meet in Federal Way, WA this past week.
The meet was held at the Weyerhauser Aqwatic Center, home to the annual Pac-12 Diving Championships and both women posted some great performances.
Ivory-Ganja, a double bronze medalist at the Pac-12 meet, began the week qualifying for the semifinal in the women's three-meter synchro event with her partner. The duo fell just short of qualifying for the final and finished in 12th place. She then competed on Tuesday in the three-meter prelims, finishing 25th overall.
On Wednesday, both Winn and Ivory-Ganja competed in the women's platform event prelim, both narrowly missed making the semifinal finishing 19th (four points out) and 20th (nine points out), respectively.
"I am proud of the way these two battled throughout the week," said Dive Coach Tom Stebbins. "Laura in particular, who closed her career with an exceptional inward two and one half pike, a dive that had given her much trouble over the years."
Winn, a 2011 Applied Mathematics graduate, now turns her focus to her life beyond the pool, while Ivory-Ganja will head home to Houston for the summer, and is pre-qualified for this summer's national championships.
