
Woepse Earns Gold; Faldermeyer Silver at NACAC Under-23 Meet

Juniors Mike Woepse and Alec Faldermeyer represented Team USA over the weekend at the NACAC Under-23 Track & Field Championships in Mexico and both came away with some hardware after their respective performances.
Woepse won the pole vault competition with a clearance of 17-8.50, while Faldermeyer finished second in the hammer with a mark of 214-7.
The NACAC stands for North America-Central America and Caribbean and features only athletes below the age of 23. The U.S. team earned 23 gold medals, 16 silver and six bronze during the meet.
Redshirt freshman Nicholas Scarvelis is in Barcelona, Spain this week for the World Junior Championships where he will be competing in the shot put for Team USA. The meet begins on Tuesday and runs through the 15th and is held at the Montjuic Olympic Stadium, home of the 1992 Olympic Games track and field competition.
Scarvelis will compete Wednesday morning in the qualifying round, with the finals to follow that evening.
