SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The No. 3 UCLA women's water polo team improved to 6-0 on the year with a 16-4 victory over Concordia on Saturday afternoon in the second game of the UC Santa Barbara Winter Invitational. Freshman attacker Kodi Hill (Santa Barbara, Calif.) led the Bruins in scoring with three goals.

In the win over the Eagles (1-2), UCLA had 11 different players score goals. Senior Gisselle Naranjo, sophomore Alexa Tielmann each scored two goals against Concordia. Rounding out the UCLA scoring with one goal apiece was freshmen Rachel Fattal, Maddy McLaren and Alys Williams, sophomores Shelby Couture and Emily Donohoe and juniors Kelly Ronimus and Becca Dorst.

The Bruins got off to a slow start, leading 3-2 at the end of the first period. But UCLA dominated the second quarter, 6-0, to hold a 9-2 lead at halftime. The Bruins maintained their superiority in the third period, winning it 5-1, to build a 14-3 lead after three periods. UCLA finished the fourth period with a 2-1 advantage to win the game 16-4.

Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Sami Hill, played all four periods, registering nine saves. Karen Gurske was credited with 10 saves for Concordia.

The Bruins return to action tomorrow (Jan. 27) when they face the hosts, No. 15 UC Santa Barbara, at the Gauchos' Campus Pool at 8:00 a.m. (PT).
