1999 (As A Sophomore) - Originally designated the No. 1 starter, Carter ran into trouble early on but regained his dominant form down the stretch to rescue a dwindling starting rotation ... Took Jon Brandt's spot as the Friday starter in May when Brandt went down with a shoulder injury in late April ... Appeared in 20 games overall, making 11 starts ... 1998 ( As A Freshman) - Began the season as a reliever and weekday starter ... Made his first weekend start on 3/06 vs. Arizona State and remained in the weekend starting rotation the rest of the season ... Appeared in 18 games, making 12 starts.
Notes: Lost just one game the entire season, and allowed just three earned runs in eight innings in that game (3/20 vs. Cal State Northridge) ... Made his first Six-Pac start on 3/06 against Arizona State in a Friday night game after being named as the starter right before game time since John Phillips was unable to start due to an injury, and allowed just one earned run in seven innings while striking out a career-high eight batters ...
