August 24, 2013 | Women's Soccer
Freshman Gabbi Miranda wasted no time in recording her first collegiate goal, directly scoring off her corner kick at 2:42. Miranda hooked her kick over the goalkeeper and just under the bar for the score.
Just five minutes later, junior Rosie White made it 2-0. After receiving a through ball from Sam Mewis, White had her shot saved by Northeastern goalkeeper Paige Burnett. But she followed through on the rebound with a tap into the empty net.
Freshman Darian Jenkins gave UCLA a 3-0 lead at 15:55. Caprice Dydasco set up the play by juking a defender on the left side and crossing it into the center to Jenkins, who hit it into the back of the net amidst traffic.
Senior Jenna Richmond finished the scoring at 53:52 with a nice finish on cross from Taylor Smith to the far post.
The Bruins controlled possession in the game, outshooting the Huskies, 17-1. Goalkeepers Katelyn Rowland and Alana Munger shared the shutout. Burnett had six saves for Northeastern.
UCLA (1-0) is back in action on Sunday, Aug. 25 against Cal State Northridge. The game will take place at Drake Stadium at 6 pm and will be televised live on Pac-12 Networks.
