Pauley Pavilion re-opened Oct. 25 with a new wooden floor utilizing the same design as the floor damaged in last July's flooding from a water main break on Sunset Boulevard. The venue hosts its first major event at 7:30 pm tonight, Oct. 31, when the men's basketball team has its home opener, an exhibition game against Azusa Pacific University. The women's basketball team opens its home schedule in Pauley Pavilion on Sunday, Nov. 2, an exhibition game against Westmont College at 2 pm.
Collins Court, a multi-purpose gymnasium court in the John Wooden Center, also received a new wooden floor and re-opened Oct. 25. After playing home games at off-campus locations, the women's volleyball team returns to Collins Court at 6 pm Friday to host the University of Washington. In the John Wooden Center, fitness spaces re-opened over the summer, and racquetball courts and the rock wall are scheduled to re-open next week.
Both Pauley Pavilion and the John Wooden Center are operated by UCLA Recreation for the benefit of the entire campus, including student intramural sports, club teams, registered student groups, concerts, and a wide variety of other recreation and other campus life events.
Pauley Pavilion and Collins Court were among the campus facilities damaged July 29 when a Los Angeles Department of Water and Power pipe burst on Sunset Boulevard, sending an estimated 20 million gallons of water gushing to low-lying portions of campus.
