Additionally, UCLA defender Caprice Dydasco tied a school record with three assists in the game, and goalkeeper Katelyn Rowland tied her own school records with 15 shutouts this season and six consecutive shutouts. The Bruins, have scored 26 unanswered goals since allowing a goal in the 53rd minute to Stanford on Oct. 9. UCLA's unbeaten streak extends to 40 games, and its shutout streak now stands at six games and 577 consecutive scoreless minutes.
UCLA (17-0-2, 9-0-1 in the Pac-12) jumped out to a big early lead, scoring two goals in the first seven minutes of play. Taylor Smith got the scoring started with a goal at 5:35, her seventh of the season. Sam Mewis sent a pass through to Dydasco on the left side, and Dydasco crossed to Smith in the box. Smith's one-time poke shot skipped past a Washington defender and goalkeeper Megan Kufeld and into the back of the net for her seventh goal of the season.
Not even 90 seconds later and the Bruins were back in business against the Huskies (12-6-1, 5-4-1). Dyadsco sent a long pass to Mewis, and the senior midfielder tracked the ball down and fired a left-footed shot past Kufeld far post for her Pac-12-leading 14th goal.
Mewis also helped make goal No. 3 happen in the 30th minute. After accepting a backheel pass from Smith, Mewis crossed into the middle of the box to Zoey Goralski, who immediately sent a pass back to Killion, who one-timed it past Kufeld into the lower left corner for her seventh goal.
UCLA added three more goals in the final 20 minutes of the contest. The Bruins benefited from an own goal at 70:00 when a Bruin cross was handled but not fully grabbed by Kufeld. White pounced on the loose ball and sent it into the mouth of the goal, where it died in the mud. White and a Washington defender both tried to get a foot on the ball, and it rolled off the Husky player into the goal.
The Bruins benefited from another Husky mistake in the 85th minute when a clearance attempt went instead to Gabrielle Matulich, who finished for her first collegiate goal. Kylie McCarthy finished the scoring at 87:07, taking a pass from Dydasco, dribbling into the box and beating both a Husky defender and reserve goalkeeper Madi McNamara with a shot to the right corner that netted her goal number three of the campaign.
UCLA can win the Pac-12 Championship outright on Friday night at USC in the regular season finale. The game will take place at the LA Coliseum at 7:30pm.
