No. 12 UCLA Women's Rowing Falls to No. 8 USC

LOS ANGELES - The No. 12 UCLA women's rowing team lost its annual dual meet against No. 8 USC on Saturday morning at the Port of Los Angeles, winning the second varsity eight and novice eight races.

USC edged UCLA by a 4-3 margin in the final point totals.

The Bruins defeated the Women of Troy in the second varsity eight race, crossing the finish line ahead of USC by 7.0 seconds. UCLA's second varsity eight crew posted a time of 6:47.20, while USC crossed the finish line in 6:54.20.

UCLA's win in the novice eight race came by 28.3 seconds. The Bruins registered a time of 7:05.80, while USC crossed the line in 7:34.10.

USC finished ahead of UCLA in the varsity eight race, clocking in with a time of 6:36.30. UCLA posted a time of 6:47.20 in the varsity eight race.

The Women of Troy won both varsity four races. USC's varsity four registered a time of 7:39.30, more than 10 seconds ahead of UCLA (7:51.10). In the second varsity four race, USC crossed the finish line 14.1 seconds ahead of the Bruins.

UCLA continues its season in two weeks, competing at the Pacific Coast Rowing Championships (Saturday, May 17) and the season-culminating Pac-12 Championships (Sunday, May 18) on Lake Natoma at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center (Gold River, Calif.).
