The Bruins had an impressive fall campaign, with all fall teams scoring points in the Directors' Cup. Men's Water Polo earned 100 points for winning the NCAA Championship. Men's Soccer received 90 points for its second-place finish, and women's soccer earned 73 for its fifth-place showing. The Bruin football team finished 10th in the final rankings and earned 67.5 points. Women's volleyball's advancement to the Sweet 16 gave the team 64 points. Cross country contributed points on the men's (56) and women's (47) side with their Top 30 finishes at the NCAA Championships. With a total of 497.5 points to end the fall, the Bruins finished just 47.5 points behind Stanford, which has the luxury of fielding an additional fall sport (field hockey). This is the closest UCLA has been to first place after the fall in 10 years and the most points UCLA has ever totaled in the fall.
In the Capital One Cup men's standings, the Bruins are just one point shy of first place with 59 points. Ohio State, Virginia and North Dakota State are tied for first with 60 points. UCLA earned points for men's water polo (1st place, 20 points), men's soccer (2nd place, 36 points ) and football (10th, 3 points). On the women's side, UCLA is tied for 12th with 18 points thanks to women's soccer's fifth-place finish.
Winter and spring teams have more opportunities to earn points. Nine UCLA teams currently ranked in the Top 10 in the nation, including No. 1-ranked women's tennis.
