Sadiqua Bynum (9.9) and Angi Cipra (9.875) set new season-bests, and Samantha Peszek earned 9.9. Graduate student Jordan Williams stuck a huge Yurchenko layout full vault to end the rotation, earning a career-best 9.95 to take first place.
The Bruins had a few little hiccups on uneven bars but still scored over 49 with a 49.075. Four Bruins scored 9.85 or better, with Danusia Francis and Christine Peng-Peng Lee scoring 9.85, Peszek 9.875 and Sophina DeJesus a season-high and meet-winning 9.9.
UCLA recorded 49.125 on balance beam even with Peszek suffering a rare fall. Francis led the squad with a season-high-tying 9.925, and Lee contributed a 9.875. DeJesus changed up the end of her beam routine and dismounted with a moonwalk to a gainer front layout full and earned another season-best score with a 9.85.
The big guns came out in the final rotation, as UCLA showed four E-passes, including two new full-ins from Jennifer Pinches and Hallie Mossett, both competing them for the first time at UCLA. Pinches opened her routine with her full-in and nailed the landing, finishing with a leadoff score of 9.825. Meraz followed with a career-best 9.875, and Francis stuck her opening whip through to double back pass cold on her way to a 9.9. Cipra also competed a full-in on her opening tumbling pass but took a step out of bounds and scored 9.8. Mossett debuted an exciting new floor routine that included her new full-in, a stuck double pike dismount and creative dance that led to a final score of 9.825. Bynum closed it out with an effortless double layout and scored a career-high-tying and meet-winning 9.925 to push UCLA into the 197s.
UCLA improves its record to 4-1 and remains unbeaten in Pauley Pavilion this year. Washington drops to 4-3. The Bruins will compete on Saturday at No. 16 Stanford in a meet that will be televised live on Pac-12 Networks at 4pm.
