UCLA Places Second at Bruin Wave Invitational

Erynne Lee captures the individual title by five strokes.

Senior Erynne Lee captured the individual title and fifth-ranked UCLA placed second at the Bruin Wave Invitational Tuesday at El Caballero CC in Tarzana.

The Bruins posted a team score of 294 (+6), their best score of the week, and compiled a 54-hole total of 899 (+35). Third-ranked Washington won the tournament with a score of 890 (+26). Oklahoma State placed third at 901 (+37), followed by San Diego State at 909 (+45) and Stanford at 911 (+47).

Lee played the final round in 2-under par 70, recording 1-under par 35s on each side. She won her first tournament of the season by five shots. The victory was also the fourth of her career; she has won one tournament in each of her four seasons.

Also under par in the final round for the Bruins was junior Louise Ridderstrom, who played the inward nine in 3-under par after making two bogeys on the outward side. She jumped 20 spots up the leader board to finish in a tie for 23rd at 229 (+13).

Sophomore Bronte Law tied for fourth place at 222 (+6) following a final round score of 75 (+3). Freshmen Erin Choi and Lydia Choi tied for 40th and 49th, respectively. Erin Choi posted a 78 (+6) and Lydia Choi had the drop score of 80 (+8).

Senior Brittany Mai and sophomore Yvonne Zheng played as individuals. Mai tied for 58th and Zheng placed 79th.
