LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- UCLA women's basketball head coach Cori Close announced the addition of 6-foot-1 guard Nicole Kornet on Tuesday, signing the Oklahoma transfer to a grant-in-aid. Kornet will have one year of eligibility with the Bruins, but will have to sit out the 2015-16 season due to NCAA rules regarding transfers.

“Nicole Kornet will be a great addition to our program,” Close said. “She is a big wing or a stretch four with a versatile skill set. But even more than that, she is an extremely hard worker, a great student-athlete and a very good teammate. Our team really loved her and our fans will love her too. We're excited to have her join our Bruin family.”

Kornet has played in 99 games with 21 starts over the past three seasons for the Sooners. She averaged 4.5 points and 1.9 rebounds per game last season as a first-team Academic All-Big 12 honoree. She scored a game- and season-high 21 points in the Sooners' 92-88 overtime loss to No. 9/10 Kentucky a year ago.

She was a second-team Academic All-Big 12 honoree as a sophomore in 2014 when she averaged 6.1 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. During the 2013-14 season, she set career-highs in points (26), rebounds (seven) and steals (six) in a lopsided win over Maryland-Eastern Shore.

As a true freshman, she averaged 4.3 points and 2.4 rebounds per game during the 2012-13 campaign. She scored five points and grabbed four rebounds in Oklahoma's 85-72 win over UCLA in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. She was later named to the AcademicAll-Big 12 Rookie Team.
