
Bruins Move to 6-0 with Two More Victories

With a 16-2 victory over Sonoma State and a 15-2 win against No. 12 Long Beach State, the Bruins improved their record to 6-0 heading into next weekend's Stanford Invitational.
Coach Brandon Brooks rested his starters against Sonoma State on Sunday morning, and the Bruins were challenged in the first quarter before pulling away. UCLA freshman Devin Grab opened the scoring at 4:34 before Sonoma State's Brittany Hummel tied it at 1-1 with a goal a minute later. The Sea Wolves took a 2-1 lead at 2:45 on a goal by Carleigh Robinson. With 14 seconds remaining in the first quarter, Elissia Schilling knotted the score at 2-2.
The Bruins' defense stepped up and blanked the Sea Wolves' the rest of the game, while on offense they scored 14 unanswered goals. Grab scored three more times, freshman Grace Reego added a career-high of three goals and sophomore Kelsey O'Brien contributed two goals.
Against Long Beach State, sophomore Mackenzie Barr scored four goals to match her career high and junior Alys Williams and Grab added two apiece, as the Bruins led 10-1 at halftime.
