DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - UCLA alums Brianna Do and Lee Lopez earned their LPGA Tour cards on Sunday after finishing in the Top 10 on the Symetra Tour's Volvik Race for the Card.
The Symetra Tour season came to a conclusion with the Tour Championship, as Do came on strong with back-to-back, second-place finishes over the final two tournaments. Do jumped from 18th to 3rd in two weeks to earn her LPGA Tour card. Do had four additional Top 10's this season, including another runner-up showing.
"I'm overwhelmed with all kinds of different emotions," Do told the Symetra Tour website. "I'm excited. I'm relieved. It's just a crazy moment right now and I'm trying to soak it in."
Lopez was steady all season long with nine Top 10 finishes and 13 showings in the Top 20. She finished in the Top 5 in four of the first five events, finishing runner-up in playoffs in two events. Lopez, who made 40 of 42 cuts during two seasons on the Symetra Tour, ranked fifth on Tour in scoring average.
"The ultimate goal was to get my card," Lopez told the Symetra Tour website. "A lot of people asked me if it bothered me not to win, but there are a lot of girls that won that won't get a card. My goal was to keep getting better and stronger and let the results take care of themselves and I think they did."
Do and Lopez increase the Bruins' list of current LPGA Tour members to 11. (Bruins in the Pros)
