ERIN, Wis. - The 13th-ranked Bruins look to defend their title at this weekend's Erin Hills Intercollegiate, which runs from Sunday through Tuesday at the Erin Hills Golf Course.
UCLA's fivesome will be seniors Jonathan Garrick and Jake Knapp and freshmen Phil Delisi, Cole Madey and Patrick Murphy. Sophomore Brandon Mai will be competing as an individual. The Bruin contingent will go off the first tee at 6:30 a.m. PT, with the order being Delisi, Madey, Knapp, Murphy and Garrick. Mai will tee off on #10 at 8:10 a.m. PT.
The Erin Hills Golf Course is a par-72 layout with a yardage of 7,236. Live scoring can be found here.
UCLA and #4 Oklahoma State headline the 10-team field, which also includes Colorado State, New Mexico and SMU, which are also receiving votes in the latest Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll. Rounding out the field are Miami Ohio, host Marquette, Mississippi, St. John's and Wisconsin.
The Bruins are coming off a third-place finish (886, +22) at The Northern Intercollegiate (Sept. 12-13) in their season-opening tournament. Garrick was the top UCLA scorer at +2, finishing in a tie for sixth after posting under-par scores in each of his last two rounds. Murphy (T-9) and Knapp (T-18) also finished in the Top 20, Delisi tied for 34th and Madey tied for 45th. Mai, also playing as an individual at The Northern Intercollegiate, tied for 53rd.
Last season, the Bruins shot 5-under (859) as a team to claim the title by 12 shots. Lorens Chan and Manav Shah tied for second (-3), Garrick tied for seventh (+2) and Knapp tied for 14th (+5). Ironically, it was UCLA's second consecutive 859 (-5) total in as many Erin Hills Intercollegiate tournaments. The Bruins had that same total in 2013, but finished in second place. Garrick tied for sixth at that tournament at 2-under.
