Pac-12 Cross Country Honors Announced

SAN FRANCISCO – UCLA newcomer Carolina Johnson was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year while Lane Werley garnered All-Pac-12 accolades, the league office announced Wednesday.
In just her second career collegiate race Johnson finished ninth overall at the Pac-12 Championships this past weekend in Colfax, Wash., earning second team honors. She was the first freshman finisher with a time of 20:17.5 on the 6k course. Johnson became the first ever Bruin to earn the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year award.
Werley garners first team honors for the second time in his career. The senior finished fifth overall with a time of 23:19.1 on the 8k course.
The NCAA Regional Championships will be Friday, Nov. 13. The West Regional (hosted by University of Washington) will be held in Seattle. The NCAA National Championships are being held in Louisville, Ky. (hosted by University of Louisville) on Saturday, Nov. 21.
