Muno Named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week

SAN FRANCISCO - Freshman Zana Muno was named Pac-12 Conference Freshman of the Week on Monday after helping the ninth-ranked Bruins to a pair of victories last week against Colorado and Utah. Muno, who received her second Pac-12 FOW accolade of the season, posted a pair of double-doubles to extend her streak to six straight matches, with 42 assists and 14 digs against Colorado and 47 assists and 19 digs versus Utah.

Muno nearly had a double-double in the first set against the Buffs last Wednesday with 17 assists and eight digs. She added two kills and a block versus CU. On Friday, Muno had at least five digs in each of the first three sets against Utah, posting two kills, a block and an ace.

Muno leads the team with 11 double-doubles and is second with 9.93 assists per set and 3.36 digs per set, adding 33 kills, 19 blocks and 11 service aces.

Since 2011, when the conference started handing out Offense, Defense and Freshman of the Week honors, the Bruins have claimed four Freshman of the Week awards. Zoë Nightingale was FOW on Sept. 26, 2011, Reily Buechler received the accolade last Oct. 20 and Muno won the honor this Sept. 14.

The Bruins continue their homestand on Thursday against Oregon at 8 p.m. at Pauley Pavilion. The match will air on Pac-12 Networks Los Angeles and will also have live audio and live stats on UCLABruins.com.
