BROOKLYN, N.Y. – No. 22 UCLA (8-3) faces No. 11 North Carolina (8-2) in the CBS Sports Classic at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Saturday afternoon. Game time is 1 p.m. (ET). This marks the second year of the CBS Sports Classic. Last year, the Bruins dropped an 83-44 decision to No. 1 Kentucky at the United Center (Chicago). Next season, the CBS Sports Classic will take place in Las Vegas (UCLA is scheduled to face Ohio State). North Carolina has compiled a 7-3 all-time record against UCLA. The Bruins lost to the Tar Heels, 78-56, in the Bahamas last season (Battle 4 Atlantis).

THE LATEST
The Bruins have won five consecutive games, the program's longest such streak since stringing together five straight wins in March 2014 (Pac-12 Tournament and NCAA Tournament). UCLA defeated Louisiana-Lafayette, 89-80, on Tuesday evening, playing without the services of Thomas Welsh (stomach virus) and Prince Ali (left knee). Bryce Alford scored a game-leading 27 points for UCLA, making 10 of 15 shots, and also had seven assists. Tony Parker and Isaac Hamilton each finished with 19 points. The Bruins led the Ragin' Cajuns by as many as 19 points in the first half.

UCLA's non-conference schedule features four games against top-20 ranked teams (AP poll), including a pair of contests against top-five schools. Among Pac-12 programs, UCLA's non-conference schedule is rated the second-most challenging (behind Stanford) by both KenPom.com and WarrenNolan.com.

MARQUEE VICTORIES
With wins over No. 1 Kentucky (Dec. 3) and No. 20 Gonzaga (Dec. 12), UCLA has registered at least two regular-season wins over top-20 ranked teams in a nine-day span for the first time since Jan. 2008, when the Bruins beat No. 20 Stanford (Jan. 3) and No. 4 Washington State (Jan. 12).

1,000 POINT CLUB
Junior guard Bryce Alford has become the 52nd player in program history to have scored at least 1,000 points during his UCLA career. Alford scored 13 points in the Bruins' 71-66 win at No. 20 Gonzaga last Saturday evening, pushing his career point total to 1,008 (currently has logged 1,035 career points). Alford leads UCLA's team this season in scoring (16.9 ppg), assists (5.4 apg) and free throw percentage (83.3). He enters the weekend leading the Bruins in 3-point field goals made (21), free throws made (43) and minutes per game (36.7).

BRUINS BOUNCE 'ZAGS
Isaac Hamilton scored a team-leading 20 points in the Bruins' 71-66 win at No. 20 Gonzaga last Saturday. Tony Parker finished with 16 points and five rebounds, while Bryce Alford had 13 points and five rebounds in the win. UCLA overcame a 32-30 halftime deficit, pushing its advantage to 69-64 with less than one minute to go. In a game that featured three ties and 12 lead changes, Hamilton took control late with a key layup to give the Bruins a five-point cushion with fewer than 53 seconds to play in regulation. That game marked the Bruins' first true road contest of the 2015-16 campaign.

DOWN GOES NO. 1
Thomas Welsh registered team highs with 21 points and 11 rebounds in UCLA's 87-77 win over No. 1 Kentucky on Thursday, Dec. 3. Five UCLA players scored in double figures as the Bruins secured their first win over the nation's No. 1-ranked team since toppling No. 1 Arizona in overtime, 96-89, in a first-round game of the Pac-10 Tournament on March 13, 2003. UCLA led against Kentucky during the game's final 38 minutes and 10 seconds.

NOTES ON NUMBER ONE
Prior to the win over Kentucky, UCLA had faced the nation's No. 1-ranked team five times since an overtime upset versus Arizona in March 2003. The Bruins were unable to get the win against Stanford (Feb. 2004), Kansas (Dec. 2009), Arizona (Jan. 2014), Florida (March 2014) and Kentucky (Dec. 2014).

THE LAST TIME
UCLA's win over Kentucky marked the program's first victory over a top-10 team since March 15, 2014, when the Bruins downed No. 4 Arizona, 75-71, in the 2014 Pac-12 Tournament championship. UCLA earned its first home win over the nation's No. 1 team since Jan. 12, 2002 (vs. No. 1 Kansas, 87-77).

TALL TANDEM
Tony Parker, a 6-foot-9 senior forward/center from Atlanta, has recorded six double-doubles in 11 games. Parker has averaged 14.6 points and a Pac-12 leading 10.2 rebounds per game, scoring in double figures in all but one contest. Joining Parker in the team's starting frontcourt has been sophomore 7-footer Thomas Welsh, who is currently averaging 12.8 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Welsh leads UCLA in field goal percentage (61.7 pct., 58 for 94).

ABOUT AARON
A 6-foot-1 freshman from Chatsworth, Calif., Aaron Holiday rounds out UCLA's list of five players who are averaging in double figures (10.5 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 4.2 apg). Holiday leads all UCLA players in 3-point percentage (43.3) and is third on the team in free throw percentage (75.0), having made 30 of 40 foul shots. He scored a season-high 18 points against UNLV (Nov. 23) in the Maui Invitational and totaled 10 points and seven assists in the win over No. 1 Kentucky (Dec. 3).

BROTHERLY LOVE
Aaron Holiday is the younger brother of former UCLA guard Jrue Holiday. Jrue, in his sixth NBA season, was a freshman for the Bruins in 2008-09. He was selected No. 17 by the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the 2009 NBA Draft after his freshman season and now plays for the New Orleans Pelicans. Jrue Holiday is married to former UCLA soccer player and USA women's national team player Lauren (Cheney) Holiday.

ABOUT THE TAR HEELS
North Carolina defeated Tulane, 96-72, in Chapel Hill, N.C., on Wednesday evening to improve its overall record to 8-2. Since returning from an injury, senior Marcus Paige has led North Carolina in scoring (17.3 ppg, four games) and in assists per game (4.8). Currently in his 13th year as UNC's head coach, Roy Williams helped lead the Tar Heels to a 26-12 overall record last year. UNC advanced to the Sweet 16, losing to national runner-up Wisconsin, 79-72. Last year, UCLA dropped a 78-56 decision to No. 5-ranked UNC (Nov. 27) in the Bahamas (Battle 4 Atlantis).

ON DECK
Following this Saturday's game in the CBS Sports Classic against No. 11 North Carolina, the Bruins are scheduled to conclude their non-conference schedule against McNeese State on Tuesday, Dec. 22. UCLA has never before faced McNeese State on the hardwood. Game time at UCLA's Pauley Pavilion is 8 p.m. (PT). Following that game, the Bruins will not return to action until opening Pac-12 play in Seattle against Washington on Friday, Jan. 1.
