No. 16 UCLA Women's Rowing Finishes Strong at Clemson Invitational

Racing on Lake Hartwell in Clemson, S.C., the Bruins' varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity four crews each raced to second-place finishes. UCLA finished behind first-place competitor and two-time defending NCAA champion, No. 1-ranked Ohio State in each of those races. The Bruins' second varsity four posted a fourth-place finish in UCLA's final race of the day.
UCLA's V8+ registered a time of 6:33.10, trailing first-place competitor Ohio State (6:23.50). The Bruins finished ahead of Cornell, Clemson, Louisville, Tennessee and Michigan State, respectively.
The Bruins' second varsity eight finished its morning race in 6:38.20, just 1.3 seconds behind first-place finisher Ohio State (6:36.90). In the 2V8+ race, UCLA crossed the finish line ahead of Louisville, Michigan State, Clemson, Cornell and Tennessee, respectively.
UCLA's V4+ (7:22.30) crew finished in second place, trailing Ohio State (7:21.50) by just 0.8 seconds. The Bruins' second varsity four crew raced ahead of Louisville, Clemson, Cornell, Michigan State and Tennessee, respectively.
In the team's final race of the day, UCLA saw its 2V4+ crew finish in fourth place behind Ohio State, Louisville and Syracuse, respectively. The Bruins logged a time of 7:34.40, finishing ahead of Cornell and Clemson.
UCLA's rowing team will be back in action on Dexter Lake in Oregon on Saturday, May 2. The Bruins are scheduled to compete against Oregon State and Washington State that day.
