Edwards Takes Silver at Junior Worlds

Incoming UCLA freshman rower Kyra Edwards won a silver medal in the 4x representing Great Britain at the Junior World Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Saturday, Aug. 8.
Edwards rowed two seat the boat, helping Great Britain to a second-place finish with a time of 6:50.310 behind first-place Germany (6:46.870). Rounding out the field included the third-place United States (6:52.58), followed by France (6:59.71), Switzerland (7:02.03) and Canada (7:05.45).
Edwards and her crew advanced to the second-place finish in the final race on Saturday after having posted a first-place finish in the semifinal heat on Friday.
Also rowing at the Junior World Championships were incoming UCLA rowers Megan Slabbert (Great Britain) and Maddie Southall (Australia).
Hailing from Chilwell, England, Edwards has trained at the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham as part of the Great Britain Rowing talent development scheme.
