THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Nine members of the UCLA men's tennis team will play in their first collegiate tournament of the new year this weekend as the Bruins take part in the annual Sherwood Collegiate Cup. The tournament, to be held Jan. 15-18 at the Sherwood Country Club, features a 32-player singles draw and a 16-team doubles draw.
Joining No. 14 UCLA this weekend are No. 4 Baylor, No. 8 Southern California, and No. 20 Stanford. Sophomore Martin Redlicki, ranked 48th in the most recent ITA Singles Rankings, is the No. 3 seed in the singles draw. In doubles, junior Joseph Di Giulio and senior Karue Sell are the second-seeded team.
Friday's action will begin at 9:00 a.m. PST with the first two rounds of the singles main draw. Doubles play kicks off at 10:15 a.m. PST on Saturday. Admission to the Sherwood Collegiate Cup is free. When you enter the club, inform the officer at the security gate that you are there for the tournament.
