LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- The Bruins are through the first day of action at the Freeman Memorial Tennis Championships, hosted by UNLV at the Fertitta Tennis Complex in Las Vegas, Nev. Freshman Alaina Miller and sophomore Kristin Wiley kicked off Friday's action with a doubles win for UCLA.

The Bruin pair downed UNLV's Paola Artiga and Mercedes Lopez, 6-4, to advance to the doubles quarterfinals.  Miller and Wiley will face second-seeded and fourth-ranked Giuliana Olmos and Gabby Smith of USC at 10:00 a.m. PST.  

At the NCTC in Indian Wells, Calif., senior Catherine Harrison defeated ASU's Ebony Panoho in three sets. After winning the first, 6-1, the Bruin dropped the second in the tiebreaker.  Harrison rallied in the third set, edging Panoho, 6-4.
