Sell and Brymer advance to semis at the Sherwood Collegiate Cup

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – UCLA senior Karue Sell and junior Gage Brymer advance to Sunday's semifinals at the annual Sherwood Collegiate Cup.  The semifinal matches will take place at 11:30 a.m. PST at the Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks.   

Brymer advanced after downing seventh-seeded Michael Genender of Stanford in three sets in the quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon.  Genender is currently ranked No. 61 in the ITA Singles rankings (Jan. 5).  Brymer will face USC's Jack Jaede on court 4 Sunday morning.

Sell will challenge the tournament's top-seeded player Julien Lenz of Baylor in the semis.  The Bruin downed cross-town foe Thibault Forget (USC) in the quarterfinals, 6-1, 6-3, to advance to Sunday's round.  

In doubles play, Joseph Di Giulio and Sell ousted Jake DeVine and Tanner Smith of USC, 6-2, in the quarterfinals.  The Bruin pair will take on Stanford's Sameer Kumar and Michael Genender at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.
